Am I enough? Part 1.
If not, when will I be? I have compulsions, I am sure we all do. Are yours all consuming sometimes? Today, a Friday, I got in my Jaaag (The Beast, with broken AC) at 0630, drove to Oxford for work, did my job (I was awesome) and drove back. A long ass day, and pretty much for all of this day I have just wanted to sit in front of this keyboard and type. It was a total compulsion, a desire, nagging at me, clawing at my skin almost. Ideas and thoughts running through my mind. I

I Have a Plan...
Or at least I thought I did. On October 20th 2021 I posted this; https://www.my11yearplan.com/post/i-have-a-plan If you are new here, welcome, get comfy, grab a beer, or a wine, or a water, no judgement here. There are over 50 posts between this one and that first one pasted above, most are me drivelling on about dating or my trips to America and even coffee machines. Read the first four, from the bottom up, and then come back here. But have a look at the others as well at so

Mid Year Performance Reviews
Halfway through 2026. I am currently reduced to one screen using this laptop and it is not the screen I like to use. In general. Which is an annoyance to add to this 'mid year performance review' post. This screen is on my left, and it is a perfectly good screen, same size as the one that sits to its immediate right. But it is not the 'main screen', and I know that you know what I mean. It is the screen that gets used for non essential but still important stuff, like your ema

Who Knew? This post could also be part three of https://www.my11yearplan.com/post/life-is-too-short-for-bad-coffee and https://www.my11yearplan.com/post/life-is-too-short-for-bad-coffee-the-sequel The machine mentioned in the above 'the sequel' post decided that it did not want to play ball anymore, it was never a 'great player' in fairness, but of late it really has not been keeping up, barely holding it's own, which really is just passing heated water through ground coffe

It has been 40 years.
1986 can fucking fuck off. Ooosh, I am not sober. Granted to those that know me, that will not be a shock headline of the year, 'Getty Is Pissed Again'. But. I have been abstaining and loving it, to the point I am at a crossroad. I am going sober. I am seriously doing it. Sober. Me. No wine. No JD No Morgan's and Coke. No Bud Light!!!!! This is my swansong (aside from some gigs and nuptials over the summer) I felt the need to write. Why? Well I was channel hopping (I neve

Regrets, I've had a few.
So sang Frank Sinatra on My Way. Don't panic I am not planning to shuffle off this mortal coil, (well not just yet), as the opening of that song suggests, so put the party hats and bunting away, place the champagne back on ice, I am not going anywhere, you have to put up with me a little while longer. You love me really, ha ha. With the rapid slipping grasp this World has on grammar I guess the title of this post should now be written as 'Regrets, I of had a few' so that it

Denise Cynthia McLean.
14th April 1943 - 13th January 2026 My Aunt Den has passed away at 82 years old. Den was born in Bishops Waltham during the Second World War and was the third child of four. She was the last to pass of those four. Barry, the eldest, died at five years old and possibly before Den was born. Tony, second born, died in 2017 and Pat, the youngest and my mum, passed in 1986. The family lineage is something of a mystery, my maternal grandmother died when Pat was around 18 months old

1st and 10
Spring is coming and we are already at the end of the first quarter of 2026. How do. We are entering Q2 of 2026, (ffs how corporate do I sound using Q2, what have I become) and I, for one am really happy to see it and spring. Clocks change this weekend, bring on those lovely balmy long light evenings. Next weekend it is Easter so that means short working weeks, I love this time of year. It is just after 1800hrs and still light, this time next week it will be closer to 2000hr

2025. A Year in Review
What a bloody fantastic year! Although not all plain sailing as is to be expected from your authors life. Allow me some self indulgence. Yes, I know this whole blog is self indulgent. Well it is called My 11 Year Plan. Duh. We kick the year off with ice skating. Random I know, but it has almost become a tradition for Lucy and I to go to Birmingham and try to avoid broken bones on the annual rink they put up for the Christmas period as we avoid wayward kids, knobheads and

First Dates, ménage à trois
Get your mind out the gutter! It is simply the third incarnation of my First Date blogs. Although, I do have a cheeky past. Hey you! What's it been, two months or so? One day I will make this a habit. One day. Maybe. '2025 A Year in Review' is bubbling and will be posted soon, oooosh, it has been a doozy of a year! Hold on to your hats my ever faithful, I am fizzing at the thought of writing this one. No, nope, hush, no spoilers. You can wait, just like we did, in the 1980
